It’s quite reassuring to have a positive trend that you observed validated by others! In our staffing company, we have noticed a recent increase in applicants who are currently employed in fulltime positions, but are ready to seek a new opportunity because of the desire to move to a different type of position or to a different industry or to seek a new challenge.
For the past five years, those currently employed have been reluctant to consider a job change because of fear of losing their current position or fear of not quickly finding another position. An Associate Press article in today’s San Luis Obispo Tribune closed with the following paragraph: “Most workers quit jobs when they have a new position or feel confident they can find one quickly. When they quit, it opens up more opportunities for others, including the unemployed.” That confidence bodes well for both employees and employers!
